Conflict Mineral Policy
Life Elettronica ssupports the fight against violence, human rights violations and environmental degradation by the extraction and marketing of certain minerals (gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten, derivatives of cassiterite, coltan and wolframite) from the geographical area defined as “Conflict Region”, which includes the democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighbouring countries.
The “Securities and Exchange Commission” (SEC) has prepared a legislation on the discovery and publication requirements related to the “Conflict Minerals”, as indicated by the “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act” of 2010. The rules require that manufacturers must declare it if the products they manufacture contain “Conflict Minerals” which are “necessary to the functionality or production” of such products.
Life Elettronica has committed itself to:
- not knowingly procure specified metals that come from the mines of “Conflict Region” that are not certified as “Conflict Free”.
- Ensure compliance with these requirements, and require its suppliers to undertake an adequate evaluation process on their supply chains in order to ensure that the specified metals come only from:
- – mines and smelters outside the “Conflict Region”
- – mines and smelters that have been certified by an independent third party as “Conflict Free”, if located within the “Conflict Region”.
Life Elettronica has obtained, or is in the process of obtaining, information from its suppliers regarding the origin of the raw materials used in the production of gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten, used in the manufacture of components and products supplied by Life Elettronica.
The aim is to ensure that in the products we buy only “Conflict Free” materials and components have been used.
In the case of the use of “Not-Conflict-Free” minerals being discovered in the structure of any material, component or part purchased from Life Elettronica, appropriate actions will be taken in order to make the product “Conflict free”.
